Although Bosnia and Herzegovina is not known for its extensive beaches like Croatia, it does share a small part of the coastline, with the town of Neum stretching 21 kilometres along the coast of the Adriatic Sea.
Its capital is Sarajevo, in which the XIV Winter Olympics were hosted in 1984. Most of the competitions were held on the mountains of Jahorina and Bjelašnica, which are ski resorts today, renowned for providing unforgettable experiences for winter sports enthusiasts.
The country is also home to several wild and exotic forests and untouched natural landscapes which are guaranteed to leave a lasting impression on visitors through their remarkable woodland scents and exceptional beauty.
Throughout history, Bosnia and Herzegovina has been a colliding melting pot of cultures and empires. From the Byzantium and Roman era to half a millennium of Ottoman rule, to a brief collision with the Austro-Hungarian empire -these various cultural influences can still be found in the country’s local customs and culture.
